With no new news of our adoption, questions fly. Fairly enough, some are asking if we have considered that God is closing the door and we misheard the calling. You might think those question could shake even the sturdy, but strangely we are more sure than ever the Lord scripted this path to the trio. The timing is not what we have hoped for, but we are reminded his timing is always perfect. Gratitude is wrapped up beautifully as we take heart in His assurance that the trio will, in His perfect time, come home.
"Then the LORD answered me and said, “Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets, that the one who reads it may run. For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay." Habakkuk 2:2-3

I'm so glad you're standing steadfast and that God has only given you greater assurance of the call He has given you to adopt the trio. It seems like all of my adoption friends are waiting much longer than they ever expected. I imagine all of this waiting will make your reunion with the trio that much sweeter. I can't wait to see pics of the whole family together very soon! BIG HUGS!

I had someone suggest that to us this week too. Just because a door is closed or there is a delay, does NOT mean that we misheard God's calling. I am praying that you get good news soon and have peace as you wait for that news.
ReplyDeleteDebi,
DeleteI am sure your heart aches each time that suggestion is made. I'm reminded of HIS faithfulness to "N" to provide him with a family, who will always cover him with prayers. What a provision for that sweet child. There is no mistaking that He called you to this journey. Prayers for the family God is knitting together for you.

The dead ends and closed doors and twists and turns in our adoption were ridiculous. A few times we of course wondered if God was trying to knock us over the head to alter our course. But the things that were happening weren't good for anyone - children, families, etc. It just didn't feel like God at work - more like the opposite. God works despite barriers and delays and human tendencies, but He doesn't necessarily jump in and shake things up out of the blue, either.
ReplyDeleteFor us, in the end, we did alter our course from international to public adoption...and within months things were happening. Still a few unexpected changes of plan along the way, but wow, what a difference. Within one year after beginning to explore public adoption, we had been selected for a sibling group of three, and had met them and moved forward with transition. Clearly, had we started with public adoption back in 2007, these would not likely have been our kids...and by the time we were selected, the agency was getting pressure to separate the kiddos because they were having so much trouble finding a family for them. The kids have been home nearly a year now.
Anyway, I am not suggesting you need to change anything...only sharing our story to support that when a myriad of obstacles arise, it does NOT necessarily mean it is time to stop. I have been following your posts, and am inspired by your hope and faith in the midst of this long and uncertain journey.

DeleteThank you for walking this along side us. What a treasure to have those who've walked this path praying and encouraging from the sidelines.
